“Passaic County Honors Braen Stone For More Than A Century of Excellence”
WAYNE, NJ – At the opening ceremony of the 2025 Passaic County Fair, the Passaic County Board of County Commissioners presented a proclamation honoring Braen Stone, a fifth-generation family-owned company whose contributions to the construction materials industry and the region’s economic growth span more than 120 years.
Founded in 1904 by Samuel Braen, Braen Stone began as a small, local business. In the ensuing century, it has grown into a major regional leader in construction materials, serving northern New Jersey and New York. Over the decades, the company has provided essential resources for countless infrastructure projects, including work on the Eisenhower Interstate Highway System and the George Washington Bridge, and continues to play a critical role in supporting the state’s economic development.
Braen Stone has also been a dedicated community partner, serving as a primary sponsor for the Passaic County Fair and helping to make the annual event possible for residents and visitors alike.
Braen Stone has remained under family leadership for more than a century, and has upheld foundational values of dedication, integrity, and community service. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Braen Stone continued to grow, further reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of the local economy and a significant employer for Passaic County residents.
“Braen Stone’s story is one of vision, resilience, and deep community roots,” said Passaic County Commissioner Director Pat Lepore. “For more than 120 years, they’ve been building not just roads and bridges, but a stronger Passaic County. We’re proud to recognize their legacy and the impact they continue to make on our region.”
Accepting the reward on behalf of the company, Scott Braen said, “It’s an honor for our family and our team to be recognized by the County we’ve called home for generations. We take great pride in contributing to the infrastructure, economy, and community spirit of Passaic County, and we look forward to continuing that tradition for many years to come.”
The proclamation celebrates Braen Stone’s enduring commitment to Passaic County through local employment, reinvestment in their business, and strong leadership that has carried the company forward for five generations.
